kolour paint stability

Has anyone else had issues with Kolourpaint as of late? It seems that half the time if I select a region and copy it, Kolourpaint hangs for a few minutes and I may have to manually kill it. It hasn't always been like this, but I noted that it started about a couple updates ago (timewise, a couple months).

I'm not using any KDE environment, I just have the kdegraphics package installed.

Anyone else having this issue? It's gotten really annoying.

The only related reports I see are https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=181029 and https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161971
It would be good if you could attach a GDB process to kolourpaint in order to obtain a backtrace and then file a new bug report at bugs.kde.org
