Install using SDTV as monitor?

I'm wanting to install Arch on another machine, but only have a SDTV as a monitor.

While I can verify that the machine and TV connection works fine, I don't get anything but a black screen when I try and boot from the Arch CD.

Am I right in thinking that I can't use this, because framebuffer mode won't output at the correct resolution? (800x600 should be ok.)
