Hi all,
I am having problems with GDM. I added it to my daemons list in /etc/rc.conf, and it starts properly when I boot. However, when I login, it fails to load GNOME, and starts an xterm session instead. I checked my .xinitrc file, and I have gnome-session properly commented out. How do I fix this?

install openbox then slap this is the xinitrc
#!/bin/sh
exec openbox

Before you put your username and password into GDM, check the session options to see if Gnome is what it's going to run.
Also, just in case, did you run:
$pacman -S gnome
"Oh, they have the internet on computers now."

Okay, installed openbox and made those changes, and it still fails to load the environment. The message I get is: "system has no xclients file, so starting a failsafe xterm session".

GNOME is definately installed, I can use it when I type 'startx' from the CLI, just not when I try to start it from GDM.

Thanks for the help, I just solved this. Reinstalled GDM and now it works.
