[solved]kernel26.30x/nvidia185: pm-hibernate (/raid-swap?)

EDIT: No problems with 30-5 when it hit core.

Hi!

PM-hibernate doesn't work any more - Upgrades that day (pm-hibernate worked definitely the night before):

[2009-06-12 16:28] upgraded kernel26 (2.6.30-1 -> 2.6.30-2)
[2009-06-12 21:33] upgraded libev (3.53-1 -> 3.60-1)
[2009-06-12 21:33] upgraded wicd (1.6.0-1 -> 1.6.0-2)

I don't really know what to look for.  PM log says, it hibernated fine while I can't find a sign of it trying to wake up (just normal boot). But dmesg looks "scary" (eeek, md0: unknown partition table... and stuff!) so:

Linux version 2.6.30-ARCH (root@T-POWA-LX) (gcc version 4.4.0 20090526 (prerelease) (GCC) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jun 12 10:46:46 CEST 2009

Some of the "scary ext4 stuff" and "scary raid stuff" that looks error'ish has been there before, while everything was still working.

Any hint is appreciated! thx.

Re: [solved]kernel26.30x/nvidia185: pm-hibernate (/raid-swap?)

After update to 2.6.30-3, suspend to disk/pm-hibernate does not work any more at all. When executed, the system instantly freezes, not hd activity or anything else but the frozen "_" character on the otherwise empty screen.

the pm - log is not updated.

edit: seems to be back to the behaviour mentioned in the first post again, now - no idea why.

edit: Figured something out - both behaviours are still there,this is strange:
- If I call pm-hibernate from an xterminal, I get a seemingly clean hibernate, it "just" doesn't wake up again (=> normal boot)
- If I call pm-hibernate from tty (x not running), It just freezes instantly, no log or anything.

Re: [solved]kernel26.30x/nvidia185: pm-hibernate (/raid-swap?)

OK, maybe that helps someone debug or something:

- I removed testing repo from pacman.conf
- I reinstalled "sudo pacman -S core/kernel26 nvidia"
- sudo pm-hibernate instantly after that, without reboot or anything...
- ... hibernate and resume did work fine, everything OK.

# pacman -Syu
says:

which should mean, those are still the testing versions - right?

here's the packages changes / "fallbacks" that made suspend to disk work again:

[2009-06-16 13:25] upgraded kernel26 (2.6.30-4 -> 2.6.29.4-1)
[2009-06-16 13:25] upgraded nvidia-utils (185.18.14-1 -> 180.51-1)
[2009-06-16 13:25] upgraded nvidia (185.18.14-1 -> 180.51-1)

I guess I'm going to stop updating, until the new kernel & nvidia goes core now and then I'll see. Unless someone has any questions or something...

another edit: did I mention I'm in arch64? (like - rhetorical - you know...)
