macbook pro video issues..

i have a 15" macbook pro that i have arch on. i have the 8600m gt video card and am having trouble getting X to run at the right resolution. i've tried multiple guides on the wiki for macbook pro's, but to no avail. currently i'm running X without an xorg.conf file. everytime i run "X -configure" and test the xorg.conf file it creates, i get an nvidia logo flash and then a black screen. someone else posted a similar problem, but their solution would not work for me. any help?

thanks in advance.

edit: my macbook pro is a 4,1 model if that helps. its not the new unibody, but the older 2.4Ghz w/ the multitouch pad (which has been working fine)

Re: macbook pro video issues..

read this: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA

install pacman -Sy nvidia nvidia-settings, the backup xorg.conf. after that run nvidia-xconfig while in CLI. Always worked for me, although i have a stock PC and an 5200

If it ain't broke, broke it then fix it.
