A (really very small) trouble with the sound

Hello,

I'm very new to ArchLinux. Though I have used many other distributions by the past.
I must admit that I'm quite impressed by Arch so far...

So, going on with my trouble :
I have installed Arch 0.8 on my laptop (HP dv4275) and everything went really fine. I installed Xfce as my DE... this went fine as well, I pacman(ed?) alsa libs for my sound card, this went fine as well...
However my trouble is as follow :
Everytime I login into Xfce my previous sound settings aren't saved and then the volume is always set back to mute at each Xfce start...

So If anyone knows how to fix it, I'd be most grateful...

(Out of topic : I'm really impressed to see that Beryl runs flawlessly on Arch with my Ati card... It tended to be a bit slow on my previous distro and I never found the reason for this......)

To conclude : For now, Arch makes me really happy apart this little sound problem... Everything is working well... I think that I'm going to have a look at that Package build system... Pacman seems to be impressive...

That was a little testimony of my happiness !

if you've unmuted the devices via amixer .. don't forget to `alsactl store`

If you add alsa DAEMON to /etc/rc.conf, it will save the volume on shutdown and restore on boot.

Funnily enough I had the same problem.

Running alsactl store and adding asla the the DAEMON section in rc.conf, after installing alsa-utils, has fixed it.

I must say, I'm really enjoying using Arch big_smile
