[SOLVED]Pacman don't want to update on Bash!

Hello,

I got a strange problem by updating my system. When I give the update command in a GNOME terminal Pacman gives the following:

:: Synchronizing package databases...

But when I want to update without X on a Bash terminal, what I prefer above updating under X, I got the following output.

Could someone help me, so that I can update on a Bash terminal?

Re: [SOLVED]Pacman don't want to update on Bash!

This isn't a 'bash' problem...

You didn't happen to switch mirrors recently? Either you did that or for some reason your mirror rolled back its database (and hopefully its packages too) to older versions.

Re: [SOLVED]Pacman don't want to update on Bash!

Hello,

Thanks for your reaction.
I changed my mirrors, because one of them gives a network timeout. Now I have changed a lot in my mirrorlist (and then I runned pacman -Syyu) but the problem is still there. Is there a solution, so that I can update without X?

Re: [SOLVED]Pacman don't want to update on Bash!

You can update. Your new mirror is behind your previous and is still distributing older packages then the ones you have, that's why you get all those warnings about newer packages. The mirror should sync soon and the warnings will be gone then. The last line says "Locale database up to date", ergo there are no updates. Pacman will update your system just fine when new packages arrive at your new mirror. (Or at least: there are no indications it wont.)

Re: [SOLVED]Pacman don't want to update on Bash!

Hello,

The strange thing is only, that it seems that pacman under X got another mirror then pacman under Bash. I think that is the reason for the different outputs. Is there some way to let pacman use the same mirror under X an bash? Because it's seems that pacman under Bash uses an old and unchanged version of my mirrorlist. Here is my mirrorlist:

Re: [SOLVED]Pacman don't want to update on Bash!

After setting your preferred mirror,
# pacman -Syy
Then proceed normally...

Re: [SOLVED]Pacman don't want to update on Bash!

Hello,

When I looked again at my mirror list I saw that there was a mirror that I used during the installation of Arch, but now I don't want to use. After disabling him, it all worked. Problem Solved.
