audigy line-in issues

for some reason my mixer thinks that the line in on my audigy card is a mic in.  this is a problem because the sound is extremely muffled, even with the 20+ boost turned on.  I can't switch it to the mic-in because that creates feedback into my mixer (external mixer for turntables).  in the mixer (gnome-alsamixer) i only have a "TriTech TR28602" tab, however on other systems (ubuntu, which i played with for a bit) there would be another tab for the OSS compatibility which is what i used to adjust the volumes and it worked fine.

i followed the instructions of the wiki here and also turned up other volumes since i have surround sound.

snd-emu10k1 and snd-pcm-oss are both loaded by rc.conf (snd-emu10k1 first, then snd-pcm-oss).

any ideas?  thanks!

Re: audigy line-in issues

try here:
http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php?page=emu10k1

what I get from it is basically this:
you need to add some options to modprobe.conf for the module, to indicate different line in/out combos

options snd-emu10k1 extin="???" extout="???" (see below)

         Input & Output configurations............................[extin/extout]
            * Creative Card wo/Digital out......................[0x0003/0x1f03]
            * Creative Card w/Digital out.......................[0x0003/0x1f0f]
            * Creative Card w/Digital CD in.....................[0x000f/0x1f0f]
            * Creative Card wo/Digital out + Live Drive..........[0x3fc3/0x1fc3]
            * Creative Card w/Digital out + Live Drive...........[0x3fc3/0x1fcf]
            * Creative Card w/Digital CD in + Live Drive.........[0x3fcf/0x1fcf]
            * Creative Card wo/Digital out + Digital I/O 2......[0x0fc3/0x1f0f]
            * Creative Card w/Digital out + Digital I/O 2.......[0x0fc3/0x1f0f]
            * Creative Card w/Digital CD in + Digital I/O 2.....[0x0fcf/0x1f0f]
            * Creative Card 5.1/w Digital out + Live Drive.......[0x3fc3/0x1fff]
            * Creative Card all ins and outs....................[0x3fff/0x1fff]

according to the site,you don't need to do that for audigy cards.

i added snd-mixer-oss but it doesn't seem to have done anything...i'll keep working on it, but thanks smile

Re: audigy line-in issues

I played around for a while with the volumes and found that one of the "Analogy Mix" volumes was actually controlling my line-in, not the mic or the volume marked as line-in.

Hope this helps someone in the future...
