[SOLVED] Weird framebuffer problem.

I have a 1280x800 screen on  my laptop and an GM965. I am unable to set up my kernel framebuffer for 1280x800 resolution. I have linked in the i915 driver and I do get a proper resolution but it spans only the top left 1024x768 of the screen. The display simply does not span the whole of the 1280x800 TFT.

My boot line is kernel

/boot/customkernel root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/ec9a810a-262d-415b-8bf8-2610cf1f34cb ro video="intelfb:mode=1280x800-24@60"

.

I have also tried booting without the mode parameter and that does not seem to help.

I am completely stumped. Any ideas?

Re: [SOLVED] Weird framebuffer problem.

915resolution-static in AUR is patched for your chipset:

I can't tell the difference between intelfb and uvesafb, so hopefully this will work for you. If you try, make sure that you use the 915resolution-static build. The other in AUR is incomplete. This wiki page has a lot of good information:
