Oh noes >.< (64 bit wine?)

I was just reading through the tutorial on how to install wine when i got to the AUR page to download wine and the maintainer was talking with another user about how 64 bit arch can't support 32 bit wine. Please tell me this isn't the case >.< I've spent days installing and configuring everything to just the way I want it but If i can't use wine I'm going to have to curse and try another distro >.<

Re: Oh noes >.< (64 bit wine?)

The problem with Wine is that it needs to be 32-bit; the Wine devs have to do a lot of work to properly support 64-bit. So, you need a 32-bit Wine and 32-bit versions of all supporting libraries. bin32-wine (mine) and bin32-wine-suse are both in the AUR, and should work fine (they have dependencies on all required 32-bit libs) smile

bin32-wine is the easiest, for sure, but I never used it cos I prefer the chroot method. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arc … bit_system is the guide I followed. All you have to do is remember schroot -p -- before any wine commands. I use my own scripts anyway, so this is taken care off.
