I would like to see i686 packages too as I need them now =X. I do not want to come back to old kernel whereas current catalyst from godane repo is not working properly.

Yes that one is confirmed to be not working!

@venky80
I think i fixed it now when i add a custom kernel with kensal patch now. glxgears and glxinfo are not crashing the system. Assaultcube is working fine with the new video driver and kernel packages.
I still add the config_x86.patch file so catalyst 9.6 compiles on x86 systems.
I hope this helps.
PS I disable CONFIG_LOCALVERSION_AUTO cause thats what causes the dirty kernels. I just don't know how a one line patch can make a kernel dirty.
I'm working on a live cds based on Archlinux. http://godane.wordpress.com/

+1 for kernel26 patched package for i686. I cannot compile it on my own as I do not have time but it would be great to get 3d back.

Here is kernel26 for i686 for all lazy people like me . I am using it with godane's Catalyst and works fine.
http://www.2shared.com/file/6400993/94b … kgtar.html
If anything is wrong then notify me about this, please. For me it works really fine and I will try to keep it uptodate until I will switch to x86_64. It would be great if kensai could add this package to repo.

Anyone else getting broken suspend with Catalyst 9.6? And better yet, even fixed it somehow?
Edit: I could elaborate a bit, my resuming from suspend doesn't work anymore. The caps lock led stays on and I get no response no matter what I do. Hard reboot is the only option.

9.6 also broke my ability to switch between X sessions.... unless cpu deadlock is what i want.
also want to mention that ive booted 30 times this week... not that i wanted to -> THANKS ATI

Hi!
Does anyone here have a problem with video playback with the catalyst driver?
In totem video looks like this: http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/2545/skjermdump.png
In VLC the problem isn't quite that serious, but audio skips.
This is not present with the xf86-video-ati driver.
Any solutions?

Because I don't want to update kernel26 just yet, I keep on adding packages to be ignored each time a kernel-related update blocks the other updates.
I've also added an ignore for go-openoffice, since it's a heavy download and it was too eager on the updates lately.
It's nothing big or life-changing, but if I find this useful, someone else might find it useful too.
I use "pup" as an alias for updating all the packages:
alias pup='yaourt -Syu --noconfirm --ignore kernel26 --ignore go-openoffice --ignore fam --ignore portmap --ignore rpcbind --ignore rt2500 --ignore madwifi'

I think I booted 30 times today. I've had Catalyst up to here.
I have an old 9250 that works - 3d aside - better and faster with the open source driver. Honestly, on normal desktop performance under Openbox, you'd swear it was the newer card. And it hibernates properly. Hell, it shuts down properly. Welcome back, old friend (emphasis on the "old")...
As I said on the thread I started about my stupid reformatting of /home, the 2400 no longer freezes after 3 seconds of 3d, which is an improvement. But it's still next to useless. Games and the like are obviously a lot better - Stellarium looks niiiice with FSAA and everything switched on - but even Compiz runs, arguably, better on the 9250 (lower framerate, no blur or water effects - oh dearie me - but at least scrolling... well, works, instead of smearing pixels all over the screen). And I can't logout of an X session or switch VTs either. Has anyone else had a complete system lock when tooltips pop up? That's a good one. Caused most of my reboots today.
Sorry about the rant. I think my next motherboard will have Intel graphics: they're hardly state-of-the-art, but neither is my 9250, and at least I know they'll work.

Why do you just not use IgnorePkg in /etc/pacman.conf?

I feel the exact same way, and after this week I have decided that I will never buy another ATI product ever again.

DevoidOfWindows, because I just found a solution that worked. Thanks for the tip, though, perhaps I'll use IgnorePkg instead.

If you want to make sure, buy nVidia. At least at this moment, Intels video drivers are a mess at least.

Hi there,
in the begining i would like to thanks kensai. Great Job Mate!
Yesterday i installed patched kernel and catalyst from your repo kensai, also catalyst-utils from aur, got no problem, everythings working fine, even vbox . I'm using it on fresh arch install, which is working just perfect, without any unnecesary packages etc etc... In just second ago i've observed that my logs are unnormally HUGE, even FAT .
For a 8 hours of normal linux using they had grown for 20 MB!
Logs (errors.log everuthing.log kernel.log) are filled (or should i say spammed) with this error:
Jun 24 16:06:56 xaos kernel: [fglrx:firegl_find_any_map] *ERROR* Invalid map handle!<3>[fglrx:drm_vm_open] *ERROR* map not found -> inconsistent kernel data!!! vma_start:0x7fb647406000,handle:0xd9b90000

I have got rather fast pc here (c2d quad 3.0 GHz, 4 GB ddr2 1GHz, radeon 4850 ) and its working very good, i probably wont see that something is going wrong if i dont look into logs.
Anyone with same problem? Or even solution?
Best wishes
(oohh and sorry for my english ;P)

I hate ATI, I am going to buy netbook with Intel graphic card and install Arch there. I am sick of those drivers, I got like 2000FPS with GlxGears whereas my friend who is using nvidia got 10000FPS. What the hell is that? My dmesg is giving errors only, my performance suck and this kernel is slowest than on open source drivers.

Well, that gives you two problems, windows sucks and ati still sucks on windows as well, not as much but do suck. So well, is worst being on windows land.
