I encountered a strange issue!!!
First of all i use a apple bluetooth keyboard.
When i boot the pc and i enter shell i can change tty by pressing ctrl+alt+Fx!
After login i can't anymore!!! and F keys become inusable!
if i start X and run Xev i can see that the keys work, but aren't reconnaised! so with xmodmap
xmodmap -e "keycode 104 = F2"
xev now gave the correct key when i press, but still not working unlucky!!
any ideas??

I'm not sure if this is related,
But I use a macbook and a couple of updates ago (a modprobe.conf update), my F1-F12 keys stop working. I got applesmc module auto-loaded and I got this in my /etc/modprobe.conf
options hid_apple fnmode=2I simply move that to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf

Sorry for the long reply, away for weekends.
Some <Fn>+<Fx> key works, but only for volume up, volume down and mute. The other keys didn't wotk. I have to set brightness using xbacklight.
