h264 video is lag in mplayer ?

Hi.

I tried to play 1080 h264 video with normal mplayer (from pacman) and it's lag a lot, a normal video is stuttering but sound is fine. The same movie played fine in windows 7 with cccp codec pack so I guess the problem lies in  codec in linux, but I'm new to multimedia stuff on linux so I don't know where to look at first, any pointer would be really appreciate.  Thanks you.
