After I've accidently unsafely removed my usb stick, it is now displayed twice in nautilus:
Every other usb stick, dvd or alternative media works as normal. It's this specific usb stick. Any ideas how to make things normal again? I already tryed removing .gvfs and .nautilus as I figured it was related to this problem, but that didn't help.

Remove the pen, run as root "/etc/rc.d/hal restart", and run as normal user "killall nautilus"
"I'm Winston Wolfe. I solve problems."

The issue remains. I've been struggling with this for a couple days now, so hal was already restarted on occasion and so was nautilus.

Try removing /media/.hal-mtab

.hal-mtab indeed lists the usb stick twice and so does /etc/mtab but removing the file + a combination of the other mentioned solutions still doesn't work :s

I stumbled in this totally by accident, see if it can resolve your issue:

I solved it by removing a conflicting hal policy fdi file.
