Input hotplugging keyboardlayout

Hi, at this link http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg … otplugging regarding this

# cp /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/10-keymap.fdi /etc/hal/fdi/policy/
# nano /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-keymap.fdi

Edit the "input.xkb.layout" key and possibly the "input.xkb.variant" key in this file.

What should I put in for norwegian? no, or nb_NO for layout? What is the variant part?

The changes only take effect if you restart the hal service as root:

/etc/rc.d/hal restart

Yes, that part I know Just curious what good this setting does, and especially the last "input.xkb.variant"... I have my Norwegian keys no matter, so it seems useless...!?

Sometimes there exist different variants of a keyboard layout like "no dead keys" or ....
