wicd password storage?

hi!

I connected my laptop to my girlfriend wireless lan a mounth ago.  But I didn't save the password and now I have to connect my pc (but using windows, not arch.. sad ) to this wlan.
Of course, my girlfriend lost the sheet with all passwords and usernames.

so I opened wicd dialog box, but in the Key Form there is a strange code (i'm not sure that is the password i tiped a mounth ago).

how can i revert this code to the original password? there is some tool or i have to reset the router and change all the device's passwords? lol

Re: wicd password storage?

Hi, as far as i know wicd stores passwords plainly readable. The one displayed in wicd-client is the same as in the file located in

/var/lib/wicd/configurations/

If stored you should be able to recover the password either way.

He who says A doesn't have to say B. He can also recognize that A was false.

Re: wicd password storage?

hi, i found the file /var/lib/wicd/WHEREAREMYFILES. it links to  the file /etc/wicd/wireless-settings.conf,  where are stored all the passowrds.

thank you smile

And your passwords are safe, because only root is allowed to read those files.
