Cant create more partitions

Hi, i have Arch on a PC with a 80g HD. I have 4 partitions.
- / "root"
- /home
- /boot
- /swap
Im looking to install Backtrack in a dualbooting with Arch.
But i cant create more primary partitions.
I tried creating and extended partition, but an extended partition is also a primary partition. And gparted says that i have to delete a primary partition first, so im stucked.
What can i do?

OS -----> Arch Linux     DE -----> KDE4
CPU ---> 2.66GHz         RAM ---> 512 MB
SWAP -> 2 G                / -------> 10 G
/home -> 50 G             /boot ---> 64 MB

Re: Cant create more partitions

The only thing you can do, is to back up the data one of the partions (home probably, since it has the most space), delete it, and then create one extended partion with n logical partions inside it.

Re: Cant create more partitions

Another possible solution would be to get a new HDD (they are chip now!) and add it as a secondary HDD. That way you would have also the advantage that if something goes wring with the primary HDD your back-up data is safe in the second HDD.

Hope this helps.

I've followded the advice, i got a 10G old HDD, its like 8 years old so i want to know if it will be slower because of its transfer capability.

Re: Cant create more partitions

Now how the heck can we know that?
There is only _one_ way to find out - test it!
IMHO - over 90% (maybe 99%?) of users use the gui extensively - then the one that moves the mouse or taps the keys will be the deciding factor - not the speed of the disk.

Re: Cant create more partitions

I've make some tests, and it run pretty good.
I installed Backtrack on it, and it runs great!

Re: Cant create more partitions

It's not relevant now, but for the next time, I would have deleted the swap and create a big extended partition on the whole free space left. After that recreate a swap partition in the extended and from then whatever you wish.
