So I really feel bad when pointing this out, but "cause" should read "caused". I don't think that I have produced anything entirely free of errors in my life, though ...

@xyne beware everytime you say mod, you trigger allan to the thread
@allan, you are always in the lookout
@tlaloc, yeah I know, is impossible to produce something error free, thanks for pointing the cause of the error in caused.  big_smile
@iphitus, yay!!! thanks

Well, I really have to make a list of the developers I have interviewed, is getting hard to know who I have lately.

Guys, if there is any suggestion for a section you would like to see in the newsletter, please comment here, I would gladly see if I can make it happen. If you want to be the one doing that section you are welcome as well.

Re: Arch Linux Newsletter July 2009 - Discussion

Great newsletter as usual; just noticed what appears to be a typo in the static kernel howto:

# cp arch/$ARCH/boot/bzImage /bot/vmlinuz-rdless

should probably say

# cp arch/$ARCH/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinuz-rdless

wink

Re: Arch Linux Newsletter July 2009 - Discussion

Excellent newsletter as always!  I always love to read them.

Question about splitting up KDE 4.3: how does upgrading from 4.2 work?  Will I just have the upgrade automatically select all of the split packages that correspond to the full packages that I had installed for 4.2 and then remove the 4.3 packages that I don't intend on using anymore?  Or is the process more complicated than that?

Thanks,

Well, the process for me was very smooth, since Pierre did an awesome job at providing meta pakcages, that is if you want the whole thing still. If you don't want the whole KDE, well, there will be some manual intervention to do, but I am sure that Pierre will provide good documentation for this as he always does. There are some bugs with pacman and splited packages, but hopefully will be sorted out by the time.

Hm, I knew that files could still be recovered after they are deleted, but didn't know why or how to recover them. Thought that lsof thing was neat (under Expand Your Knowledge). I'd recommend that if you don't have the time to read the entire news letter to at least read that. Sounds useful. I know people who have made this mistake before!

Here, here! The RSS title is *bad*.

"Recent News Updates"? C'mon! How am I supposed to identify it with the subject? It's as bad as "<Enter your RSS Title Here>".
Please put some real title there. K?Tnks.

[1] 404 - Page Not Found

That link is here[2] and here[3].

In [3] is "other news letters" and is intuitive to erase the "newsletter-2009-july.html" from [3] to obtain [1]
