Re: Bash 4.0 is out!

Build readline, install while keeping the old readline libs there, rebuild bash, remove the old readline libs and maybe rebuild bash for good measure.  I had to do the same with imagemagick and libjpeg.

Re: Bash 4.0 is out!

There seems to be a dependency problem somewhere. My friend did a pacman -Sy (not u) after the push of bash4, then installed kde4 which somehow updated libreadline but not bash, which resulted in major headaches :-/

Unfortunately I don't have any more details on the problem.

Re: Bash 4.0 is out!

Doing an -Sy before installing stuff and not an -Syu means you can get packages that require newer versions that what is on your system.  We do some dependency versioning to try and stop this but it is very difficult to catch everything.

Lesson:  If you want to do a -Sy, do a -Syu.

Re: Bash 4.0 is out!

Anyone else having problems with C-c?

When I press it, it will now output ^C, which never happened before. And after a while (probably after a certain program, I'm not sure which) it will stop working at all.

Yep, it's caused by a bad interaction between bash, urxvt and tiling window managers.
