Hi fellow arch users
Subject:
I have some temperatur monitoring needs and found out about this neat little chip i2c, cheap, precise in measurement (http://www.national.com/mpf/LM/LM92.html)
Further I found out that there is at least some kind of driver implementation already in the kernel (http://tomoyo.sourceforge.jp/cgi-bin/lx … mon/lm92.c)
What I'd like to know is what steps/operations are needed to achieve this.
If this is off-subforum or off-forum I apologize and if somebody would point out a more appropriate forum I'd be very thankfull.
So my understanding is as follows.
1. Buy 2 or 3 chips
2. connect i2c + supply (5v should be anywhere in an pc, or ?, and how long could I make those cords (PC -> measurement area))
3. connect somehow to an i2c equipped mainboard
4. get lmsensors or some other tool which can read this
5. "bash" it the way you like
My questions are:
1. Is there any BIG mistake or flaw in understanding I made ?
2. Is there a simpler (I doubt there will be a cheaper ) method ?
thx
