Hi!
I'm still not sure when to file a bug, so another try...: is this something for the bug tracker? Could someone give me a hint on why / why not and if it's a bug or a feature request?
Description:
extra/xvidcap 1.1.7-1
Is unable to capture high resolution videos.
Error:
swScaler: Compile time max width is 2048 change VOF/VOFW and recompile
Segmentation Fault
Steps to reproduce:
- start xvidcap
- drag the red rectangle to something wider than 2048
- hit the record button
Solution:
- ABS / source of xvidcap...:
- change "#define VOFW 2048" in "./src/xvidcap-1.1.7/ffmpeg/libswscale/swscale_internal.h"
- recompileSomehow I just don't get it... like if this is wanted behaviour (the error message tells you how to get higher resolutions working) or unwanted behaviour (having to recompile to make it work / getting an error message for potential "standard use") or something in between ("highres feature" not enabled by default due to [...]) so thx!

I think you should file a bugreport.
"I'm Winston Wolfe. I solve problems."

This is a feature request, and it should go upstream, because the Arch package is built from the vanilla xvidcap source tarball.

OK, thanks!
I thought that maybe that would count as "prebuild config-file'ish code line which happens to be sort of in a strange place"...
I somewhat got lost on the way upstream though (somewhere between xvidcap & ffmpeg both containing swscaler and there being another 1-2 sites without obvious bug-tracker that look sort of more associated to it), so if someone is familiar with the right place, feel free to have a look at that or not.

Yeah, not the easiest to find (thanks sourceforge). For the record, it's here, then here, then here, and finally here. ![]()
