kde-unstable won't start

Hi.

I've been using kdemod 4.2.95 for a while, was quite happy with it, but you know what they say: If it ain't broken, broke it then fix it. So when I heard about kde-unstable repo I decided to give it a try and see how does it stand compared to kdemod.

But...it won't start.

First things first: I removed all kdemod, qtmod and related packages, backuped/removed all kde/qt config files in /home, then enabled kde-unstable and did pacman -Sy kde-meta . So standard repo mixing problems are not an issue here, 100% guarantee

Install went OK, but when I restarted KDM it wouldn't start.

/var/log/kdm.log :

==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Mon Jun 29 18:48:52 2009
(==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"

(EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed (8)
(EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed (8)
KCrash: Application 'kdmgreet' crashing...

Ok, that doesn't give much info, so I thought it may be some KDM bug, so I tried startx way. No luck again...

startkde: Starting up...

startkde: Shutting down...
klauncher: Exiting on signal 1
startkde: Running shutdown scripts...
startkde: Done.

Now that told me absolutely nothing, I double checked that right packages are installed , checked that dbus and hal are working... well it used to work almost prefectly on kdemod, why it would be any different here.... It's not that much of a difference, right?

I also have a fluxbox session , but flux starts and behaves as it always did, so it must be something KDE related, just cannot determine what....
Anyway, it all seems to me like some weird dependancy missing, so, please, if anyone has any hint or usefull command that might give more debug information, help would be much appreciated. wink

Re: kde-unstable won't start

Same problem here.
Also running any app from kde-unstable 4.2.95 results:

$ kruler
Illegal instruction

$ konsole --nofork
Illegal instruction

$ dolphin --nofork
Illegal instruction

I have a 32 bit system.

Re: kde-unstable won't start

Are you using testing and kde-unstable on top of it?
