Hi,
I've got an HTPC with an ATI Radeon HD 4350 running Arch x86 with the fglrx driver. When I try to play a 1080p x264 MKV video file in SMPlayer, the video frequently skips and freezes. Is this because of the poor performance of the ATI driver (I can't use the open source RadeonHD driver, since it doesn't properly support HDMI audio output)? The box has a 3.0 GHz dual-core Pentium D, if that's relevant.
Thanks!

Have a look at the options here
I've been using mplayer with the ffmpeg-mt patch for a few days now and there's definitely a quality boost.

So should I use ffmpeg-mt-git from AUR?
