Changing icons that display on the desktop

Hi guys,

Hopefully the answer isn't right out there -- I tried searching, but to no avail.  Anyways, what I'm wondering is how I can edit the icons that display on my desktop by default.  Right now, "Computer", my home folder, and the trash can all have an icon there.  How can I remove these?

This is the same for XFCE and Gnome.

Thanks a lot,
Eric

Re: Changing icons that display on the desktop

Gnome

Applications / System Tools / Confoguration Editor

Then Apps / Nautilus / Desktop

The check or uncheck what you want.

I can't remember where they are with XFCE but try Desktop Preferences or similar.

Thanks, that got it working.  And sorry, didn't realize that GNOME and XFCE handled that independently -- though that makes sense.
