Hi everyone,
i'm using wicd 1.6.x network manager and discovered some serious problems after connecting to our business WEP encrypted access point with DHCP.
The resolve.conf lists the default 192.168.1.1 nameserver, but it wasn't able to resolve all web addresses. Resolving is successfull for www.google.com or MSN pages, but failes for heise.de or the arch repositories.
But there is more to it than that. Firefox wasn't able to resolve any page!
After changing the wicd configuration to use a static DNS server address, firefox resolves the addresses i could ping, but much other pages aren't reachable yet. I know there exists another thread for this topic, but there hasn't been any solution so far.
Just for testing purposes, using my Nokia handy and the same access point i am able to browse normally withoult DNS resolution errors.
Are there any solutions except changing back to MS?

What's the point in posting a new thread when you know the problem in the old one hasn't been solved yet?

The old one was written in 2206 (as far as i can remember..)
I'm posting this because it worked fine with wicd 1.5.9 and the old kernel and i don't want to install Vista again

Try using OpenDNS see if it helps. Use 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 as your Primary and Secondary DNS servers, see if it helps.
I know, I'm shooting in the dark ... but hey, when there is no way out any way is a way

Another way is to downgrade the troublesome packages, http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Downgrade_packages and later stop pacman from upgrading them.
