[solved] Nautilus: "move to trash" deletes file immediately, but...

Deleting files via nautilus doesn't move them to trash.  They are deleted immediately no matter whether enable_delete is enabled or disabled in gconf.

This install is only about a week old, and up until now I haven't really used the trash can, so I didn't notice when it broke, or if it ever worked to begin with.  I don't seem to have a ~/.Trash directory, and creationg one doesn't make any difference.  I can navigate to trash:/// in Nautilus, and dragging files into the Trash window deletes them immediately.  I usually don't retrieve deleted things from the trash anyway, but the knowledge that something isn't working right is bugging me! tongue

Yes, fam is running. tongue

Any ideas?

~/,Trash

Erm, I'm pretty sure this was a typo, but you mean ~/.Trash right?

Thanks for the tip, loafer.  I was going by the info at http://developer.gnome.org/doc/whitepap … rnals.html

Anyway, I'm not sure exactly what the problem was, but after a system update all was well.  /shrug.
