Grub2 Posing?

Grub2 works fine but I'm puzzled by the config syntax.

Old grub, I know when a new boot entry starts because I see a line commencing "title".
Grub2, I know when a new boot entry starts because I see a line commencing "menuentry".

So... why are there open/close braces {} surrounding the menuentry lines? These look redundant. I've not been able to find detailed info on grub2 syntax.

Can I "call" a menuentry? Can I have menuentries within menu entries? Is grub2 just posing as a pseudo-C-type language?

Re: Grub2 Posing?

Well I couldn't get grub2 to work at all which I assume is because of my lack of knowledge of the syntax.
If you got it to boot your kernel, well done big_smile lol
