I FINALLY got to installing and running Arch Linux (LOVING IT!) but I have one issue so far. I have Master & PCM set to 100%, and not muted, in alsamixer and my speakers turned up all the way and the sound is very very quite.
I can faintly hear it when I put my ear up to my speakers. The cords are plugged in all the way and the speakers and sound works fine when I'm running XP on another partition.
I went to the ALSA page here on the wiki but the troubleshooting was for if you can't hear any sound. I can hear VERY little.
What could it be?!?
PS: PC Speaker is disabled in rc.conf

Why don't you tell us more about your hardware?!

SoundCard: "VIA 8235 with VIA1612A" (integrated)
Driver: 3.8.1a-980706 (ALSA v1.0.20 emulation code)
What other information should I provide?

Hey SpacerSurfer,
Couple of simple thing that we need to check off.
Have you loaded alsa as daemon ?
Have you run alsaconf yet ?
Are you using KDE, if so check that another mixer program isn't mute the main channel
Good Luck

Check if there's something like a DAC or ADC slider on the mixer and turn those up. Or else just turn everything up just to be sure. :-D

Have you tried muting the microphone front?

ladspa has an amp.
You will need to follow the same steps here:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ALS … _Equalizer
And use these values instead:
...
label amp
id 1181
...
controls [ 40 ]

Thanks for your input everyone! I'll run alsaconf and if that doesn't work I'll try your suggestion Prosyon.
I still find it weird that I get sound but it is very quiet. And yes I have tried to turn up everything in alsamixer to 100% and unmuted 'em.
Thanks again!
