I installed arch linux 2009.02 successfully on a desktop PC but when I tried to boot the same cd on my Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook laptop (a bit aged) I got this:
GNU GRUB version 0.97 (639K lower / 768960K upper memory)
[ Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible completions of a device/filename. ]
And TAB gives a list of ~30 possible commands.
How I could get arch installed on this laptop?

Perhaps use an older install cd ?
Do you get to the initial 'install screen' ? If so, try the available options.
I think the older install cd would be your best bet.
