Hi.... Have done lots of reading and it appears that my skills are not sufficient to get the ARCH cd and/or ARCHBOOT to find the internet no matter what I try. There seems to be some bugs or not obvious 'to me' things. I need to connect with only my wireless in my laptop and my local repo-add built repository.
Anyone able to explain what should work?
thank you.

Did you install the firmware package? (pacman -S iwlwifi-4965-ucode)
I'm not sure whether this package is on the install disc (it probably is), otherwise you can download it and put it on a thumbdrive.

General questions:
Which kernel/driver ? Which chipset on the card? With which program did you tried ? Open/WEP/WPA connection ?

Honestly, you haven't given us much to go on. What did you do? At what point did it fail? I presume you've read the wiki, so give us some more information. Did you load the module (if necessary)? Does iwconfig detect your card? Does it change the SSID correctly? Can you associate with an access point? If you're using WPA, is wpa_supplicant working? Are there authentication errors? Can you run dhcpcd correctly?
The instructions for setting up a wireless connection from the command line (as I presume you are trying to do) are in the wiki (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg … process.29, http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wir … nual_setup) so you should be able to understand where it goes wrong.

UPDATE COMMENT: there's a new iwl4965 package just out - hoping to get to it and try everything tomorrow!
and again >> MUCH appreciated.
WOW! thank you all!
Yes, I had about 2 minutes to write, and though a few days before posting here I'd HAD a clear enough recall with observations I wasn't able to remember etc. at the time.
So, I've been offline for 2 days, will redo the attempt and write back. Sorry for the poor posts. Very interested in this. I've just been unlucky this past week. REALLY appreciated.
- Yes I do use WICD
when I am running ARCHBOOT as an ARCH installer during the boot I see something about 4965agn not using > net_device_ops
That's a lead for me I guessed and I'm still hoping to find out if with ARCHBOOT I need to load the module manually.
