Erm...seems i don't get you right. First - "How does the and"...what do you mean?
Second: The apple movie trailers are a script/plugin you install in xbmc to be able to watch Apple's Movie Trailers (even in 1080p). Head over to the xbmc forums to learn more about this.
Cheers.

thanks for your reply.
but actually i find the explanations quite confusing...
i found this site: http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-addons/so … gins/video
where do i have to copy the plugins to get them working?
should i just copy them to ~/.xbmc/plugins?
i tried this, but they do not appear nowhere.
ps: found this: http://www.xbmczone.com/instructions.asp
when i choose "add source" i have no "video plugins" entry. hmm....

No, video plugins go in ~/.xbmc/plugins/video, music plugins in ~/.xbmc/plugins/music and so on. Note that there's also a difference between a script and a plugin. For in-depth instructions have a look at xbmc's wiki: http://www.xbmc.org/wiki/index.php?titl … ine_Manual

thanks again, haggy.
how do _you_ install plugins?
i only want to have the apple trailer plugin...
found this in the xbmc manual: http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=HOW-TO_inst … ng_Plugins
" A link to the SVN repo installer is available in your favourites menu." it's not...
Offline
It's only in the favorites if you use the XBMCLive distro. Follow these instructions:
http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=54599 to get the repo installer up and running.

thank you haggy!
i had to add the "main menu/ programs" item to my interface/skin.
this is from the link you posted above (if someone else's interested)
$cd /home/xbmc/.xbmc/plugins/programs
$ wget http://xbmc-addons.googlecode.com/svn/packages/plugins/programs/SVN_Repo_Installer.zip
$ unzip SVN_Repo_Installer.zip
$ rm SVN_Repo_Installer.zip
then enable the programs submemu and choose "svn repo installer".
that's it.

or simply put it into plugins/video if your skin does not have a programs section. note this is not the only way to get new stuff into xbmc - but one of the most convenient ones

Guys. I need a bit of help from you (if you want). I noticed a rather severe slowdown in loading jpeg background images in xbmc since the recent update of libjpeg in Arch Linux. Fanart is of course als affected. Could you please (if you did not already) build a version agains the new libjpeg and try xbmc with that? Make sure you have some fanart lying around. Please post your results along with your hardware specs here. I'm curious what exactly broke it.
Thanks many times!
Haggy.

Loading of background images (in Movies) is noticeably slower than it was before the upgrade (of XBMC). The overall gui responsiveness is fine when thinking about navigation through the various screens. Arch system is up to date w/no testing packages enabled.
Frontend system specs: GeForce onboard 8200 gpu, 4GB Ram, AMD Phenom am3 dual core 3.1 GHz processor.
BTW, love XBMC, I'm a recent convert (coming from MythTV) though I still use Myth for my recording needs.

Did you try to get an answer over at the xbmc forums? If you provide a proper problem report as described here: http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34655 i'm sure you'll get help within a few hours.

Libass is in extra so you can enable external use.

Well there is already a thread in the xbmc forum, which describes everything well.

Thanks for the heads up! It's already disabled (xbmc-svn uses the internal libass atm) - but i could enable external use it if you meant that...
EDIT: Forget my post. It's still too early to read and understand...

In case you don't follow over at the xbmc forums: http://xbmc.org/forum/showpost.php?p=37 … stcount=10
It seems libcdio (0.81) is again fishy. Downgrading fixes DVD playback. The folks with Debian Sid also suffer from this.

Yeah, downgrading to libcdio 0.80 from the svn repository fixed the problem for me.
Offline
What about dependencies?
EDIT: Perhaps someone file a bug agains libcdio and mention the FS-URL here.

Haven't checked for other breakage because the only relevant stuff on my HTPC is XBMC. I only rebuilded XBMC against the older version.
