I installed Easytag on my computer to realize, after installing it, whenever i click on places->home folder, in gnome, instead of openning my home folder, Easytag is Started lol
Weird issue.... anyone has a clue for fixing this?

Thanks!!

Re: Weird bug in EasyTag

Start Nautilus for ex with: Applications -> System Tools -> File Browser
Select a directory and right-click on it.
Choose Properties and the "Open With" tab
Choose Open Folder

Re: Weird bug in EasyTag

Actually, im stil having some problems.........
The workaround before explayed works for nautilus, and common file browsing:

Yesterday, i was downloading something with firefox, and, when this finished downloading, on the downloads screen, i right-clicked on the "open containing folder" option, easytag appeard in front of me again..... hmm
....
damn.....
Still looking for a solution........

Re: Weird bug in EasyTag

I think I found a solution for this little problem. At least it works for me.

In the file /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache there is a line that reads

x-directory/normal=easytag.desktop;nautilus-folder-handler.desktop;pcmanfm-folder-handler.desktop;pcmanfm.desktop;pcmanfm-find.desktop;

All I did was remove the easytag part from this line and places open like they should. So now it reads

x-directory/normal=nautilus-folder-handler.desktop;pcmanfm-folder-handler.desktop;pcmanfm.desktop;pcmanfm-find.desktop;

If I try to open a folder from the firefox download window, I am asked what application I want to use. I never used this function before, so I don't know if what I did to the mime file had any impact on it.
But I do know that you can set what application firefox uses from within the firefox settings
Edit -> Preferences -> Applications

Hope this helps

Re: Weird bug in EasyTag

Thanks for the help:

I actually found this line in that file you said:

x-directory/normal=easytag.desktop;nautilus-folder-handler.desktop;

And i just changed it to

x-directory/normal=nautilus-folder-handler.desktop;easytag.desktop;

The problem is gone forever now (i hope) tongue

Thanks!!!

Re: Weird bug in EasyTag

I'm sorry to resurrect an old topic, but this *seriously* aggravated me when I ran into it today, and no solutions on the net I found worked. I finally did get it "fixed" via..

Probably necessary:

1) changing the corresponding line in /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache **AND** ~/.local/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
to..
x-directory/normal=nautilus-folder-handler.desktop;

2) editing ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list and removing the easy tag entry on the inode/directory= line (it was at the front -- i got rid of it)

Maybe unnecessary:

3) opening /usr/share/applications/easytag.desktop and finding the line
MimeType=
and removing the "normal" entry from it, leaving just ogg and mp3 stuff

Probably unnecessary:

4) totally removing ~/.local/share/applications/easytag.desktop. probably would work fine with just the above, maybe repeat step 3 on it for best results?

Across different distros the locations of the files may vary. Some other distros also mention a defaults.list with some problem identical to the above, presumably similar to mimeapps.list.

This worked for me on an Ubuntu 9.10, altough easytag was never installed before. Transmission and Mplayer where just before nautilus in the list, i moved the latter ahead and the problem was solved. Thank you smile
