Vanilla KDE4 works just fine here after update. KDEMod is known to have issues, that require package rebuilds-which last I heard won't be posted for a few days-last I heard.
I am not talking about kdemod
libjpeg7 broke amarok, ktorrent search function, konqueror and every application using KHTML kpart
This situation happend cause Arch devs thought that the libjpeg bug affects only konqueror
They forgot KDE unique integration

I had the same issue after yesterday update. No wallpaper, libjpeg errors. I just downloaded libjpeg package (ver. 7) one more time using pacman and all got back to normal.

This issue affects Awesome as well. The "awset" function in theme.lua for setting a background doesn't work at the moment.
But maybe there's an updated Awesome package on its way.
I had though to recompile some applications from AUR. Takes time but it works.

Wait, so what's the issue here?
libjpeg moved/renamed a library so applications that relied on it need to be recompiled against the new version in order to make use of it. But no everyone recompiled against the new one, so some applications in the repos are still not updated against libjpeg-7-1?

almost all application was rebuild for libjpeg7. here is the remaining list from community: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/15222
nexuiz is ready but i have a small problem with the moved to svn and i can't push it.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Ah, KHTML. I forgot-because I changed the default to Webkit since KHTML never works right anyway and is slow as a snail. Perhaps that is it-since my Vanilla KDE works just fine, Amarok, Konqueror and all.

Correction: this situation happened because only two bugs were reported against libjpeg7 during the testing phase, and none of the KDE-using devs encountered any issues during the testing phase, apart from those two bugs.

Correction: Here, in this forum, when libjpeg was in testing and we had problems with libjpeg, we discussed with arch devs all the problems of libjpeg/kde. Immidiately, the arch developer responsible for kde packages Pierre, submitted a bug report in kde bugzilla, telling us that he did so :
here is the bug report of Pierre :
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=198779
And here is his post :
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=75199&p=24
I have created a bug report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=198779
And my question is :
When the developer responsible for the kde packages is the one who submits the bug report in kde bugzilla, IS THERE ANY NEED that we submit the bug report in archlinux bugzilla?
Mod edit - unnecessary bold text and multiple question marks removed to improve the overall tone. tomk.

Mikes on AUR

Guidelines suggest doing so.
Once you have reported a bug upstream or have found other relevant information from upstream, it might be helpful to post them in Arch bug tracker so that both Arch developers and users get aware of it.
archlinux - please read this and this — twice — then ask questions.
