Hello,
When i reinstall Archlinux on my computer i had some problems with alsa driver. I have a "SigmaTel STAC9227" that always had worked fine, but in this last install i had problems with it. First i run alsaconf and all worked ok, but no sound was played. I checked the sound levels and everything like that. Then i go to google.com to search about my problem and a solution was to put "options snd-hda-intel model=ref" at /etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf. I did it i a get my sound back, but i'm receiving some errors on the boot screen and when use the command "alsactl init", its return:
Unknown hardware: "HDA-Intel" "SigmaTel STAC9227" "HDA:83847618,102801f4,00100201" "0x1028" "0x01f4"
Hardware is initialized using a guess method
Some solution? The sound is working great, but the errors is annoying.
Informations about my alsa: http://pastebin.ca/1496255

Run alsaconf / alsactl store as root.

Run alsaconf / alsactl store as root.
I tried it. I already had configured my alsa... I belive that isn't the problem.

I have occasionally that error after a kernel upgrade.
I do the below and then it's solved aftert next reboot.
/etc/rc.d/alsa stop

You usually have to run those two commands again after you get your sound working again.
