Another firefox/flash problem

x86_64
amd athlon 3000 cpu

Without pacman -S flashplugin firefox starts up fine, but youtube or other flash content will not play, giving me the message about having an old version of flash.

With flashplugin installed, firefox does not finish starting. It disappears as soon as I start to see part of the window displayed.

From the console:

jim ~ $  firefox

(firefox:4524): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: IA__g_object_weak_unref: couldn't find weak ref 0x7f2a85e7e990(0x7f2a7bc3ec00)
Illegal instruction

or

jim ~ $  firefox -s

(firefox:4570): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: IA__g_object_weak_unref: couldn't find weak ref 0x7fb2a7e7e990(0x7fb29d5e6cb0)
Illegal instruction

On two other boxes I manage with x86_64, no such problem.

I have googled and searched and tried every suggested solution I have found without success.  I am hoping that the error messages quoted above will mean something to someone.

Thanks in advance.

Jim

Minds are like parachutes. They only function when they are open.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.
