Okay, when I installed Alsa and ran ALSA mixer, it is using my onboard Realtek (HDA Intel)
When I run
lspci | grep audio
I get
04:04.0 Multimedia audio controller: C-Media Electronics Inc CMI8788 [Oxygen HD Adudio]
That's my ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3. How do I go about getting Alsa to see it?
Thanks in advance.

it uses the same chipset as my xonar d2 but if you read this...
http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index. … endor-Asus
it is not the best xonar to use in linux.

Well I got it working, I disabled my onboard in the bios and now it's using my Xonar...DOH, that was easy lol
