Thanks for the magazine! What kind of software do you use to create it?

You're welcome! Scribus for the actual assembly, inkscape for vector graphics (logos and icons mostly), gimp for screenshots and misc graphics.

What! No LaTeX?! wink

Scribus looks to have become a quite powerful application by the looks of the mag.

Re: Arch User Magazine Issue 3 - The Bleeding Edge

Scribus can definitely hold its own... as long as you take the time to learn its quirks tongue

There's been talk of switching to LaTeX, but when I started AUM I built my initial template for Scribus, it's worked thus far, so I see no reason to switch. We'll see what happens down the line.

Re: Arch User Magazine Issue 3 - The Bleeding Edge

Very nice issue, and thanks for it! big_smile

Forgive me if this has been proposed before, but has merging the magazine and the newsletter been considered? I know the newsletter is more focused on Arch community happenings and the magazine seems more focused on general features, but I think it'd be awesome if we could get both in one.

Re: Arch User Magazine Issue 3 - The Bleeding Edge

Great isn't a good enough way to describe AUM.  Nice job again.

If there are problems with bandwidth on the archuser site, you may be able to put the newsletter on archive.org.  They have pretty good policies about such things plus I don't think the bandwidth would kill them.

Re: Arch User Magazine Issue 3 - The Bleeding Edge

Great style, and great content, and from a fellow Delawarean, no less. I'm only in the first pages and am looking forward to finishing after work. Very nicely done.

Something is wrong with the website... getting a blank page, direct links to pdfs work though.
