After a proper & successful `pacman -Syu` update, the system works pretty okay except one part: the catalyst driver isn't working again.
(I guess the above implies the latest kernel26, xorg-server & libdrm)
To be more exact, it helps me getting into Xorg, but everything stalls, nothing works smoothly.
here's a copy the `dmesg |tail` :

Strangely enough, there seems to be no error mesg in Xorg.0.log, except for reporting non-supported resolutions.
There's a hint from the catalyst package maintainer that I should recompile the module after upgrading xorg or libdrm, but it didn't help.
Though currently I use a xf86-video-radeonhd and it works, but I would really like my 3D acceleration back.
ps: If anyone would like to see a `dmesg |grep fglrx`, see: http://pastebin.com/m29711617

Just wondering if anyone has the same problem ?

I've had that problem too .... I did recompile catalyst-utils and catalyst and it worked again.

Same issue here. Recompiling/installing catalyst and catalyst-utils did not prevent the errorlines from filling my syslog. (Archx86_64, HD4850)

Me too...

I didn't notice anything was wrong until I ran out of disk space on my root partition from 500MB {errors,kernel,everything}.log.{1,2,3,4} files. Fun stuff.

me too. but the catalyst works.

I have the same problem - didn't notice anything wrong untill it filled my /var/ partition.
Recompiling catalyst/catalyst-utils also had no effect. Arch64 HD3460,

FWIW, Catalyst 9.5 does not change this issue at all.

same with catalyst 9.6

I too see this with Catalyst 9.6.
So far it has only occurred while watching HD recordings with mythtv. The picture and sound freeze and then jump. Mythtv reports that its RingBuf is "Taking too long to be allowed to read.." and "Waited 2.0 seconds for data to become available...". These errors should not be happening while playing a recording as the data comes from disk. You can back up 5 to 30 seconds and it will usually play correctly and then start studdering on content you have not viewed yet. It is almost as if the fglrx driver is doing something that interferes with disk I/O.
This happens at random intervals and usually only lasts for a couple minutes. It often starts working right when a completely new scene begins.
The computer is a Dell Vostro 200 with an ASUS built ATI EAH3450 card. One Terabyte HD for data. Intel Core 2 Duo. 2 GB memory over 1 GB is being used as cache. CPU useage is 20% to 30% when running and well below that when studdering.
