Trying my first install of Arch, and attempting to get X11 and LXDE up, following the beginner's guide.
System: Asus P6T Workstation Pro, Core i7, with en9600gt, USB keyboard and mouse, x86_64 Arch, nice fresh install -- I haven't had much time to h0rque over the config files yet :)
I believe I have faithfully followed the Beginner's Guide, and nvidia guide, and the LXDE guide. Using nvidia driver installed via 'pacman -Sy nvidia' xorg.conf generated using nvidia-xconfig.
Symptoms:
1) X -config /etc/X11/xorg.conf
screen goes black, no cursor, no response to mouse/kbd, can't get control back. I've been ssh'ing into the box to debug and restart.
2) starting LXDE via startx yields a pretty screen with a couple of broken images (I'll start another problem thread for that), but mostly LXDE is there, again no keyboard/mouse. But..... if I wait for the screen saver to kick in, and then wiggle the mouse, the screen comes back and then I have a mouse and keyboard! So I must be missing something at start up that is woken up by the screen saver.
edit: I should mention that even after the mouse comes back, I can't seem to move windows, although I can resize them.

I'm marking this as 'solved', even though the bare X test still doesn't work for me. My X/LXDE problem was not that the mouse/kbd were being ignored by X, it was a misconfiguration of LXDE (missing window manger), discussed in the thread referenced above.
