Fluxbox - "connection to x server failed" - does n

Hello!

Can someone help me!?!?

i want to test all these de and wm's. so i also wanted to test fluxbox. i installed it by typing pacman -Sy fluxbox. everything ok. after restart, typed fluxbox and it did not start

fluxbox
failed to open catalog
BaseDisplay:BaseDisplay:Connection to X server failed
FluxBox:Unknown Error

thats all, after starting it. xfce4 is works, also gnome.

other question: how do i install the fluxbox-devel package with pacman? typing pacman -Sy fluxbox-devel says package not found!

thx, im very new in the world of linux, but arch is great. imho "noob-friendly" wink

sorry for my bad english smile

Edit your ~/.xinitrc and write

exec fluxbox

then run startx

Enable unstable repository in /etc/pacman.conf

then

pacman -Sy

pacman -S fluxbox-devel

I have the same problem, but I don't have a ~/.xinitrc  sad

you should have one if you have installed xorg,
otherwise there is one in the wiki,
wiki->howto->Desktop..->Desktop Eviron...

1. copy it to your homedir
2. choose your DE
3. Enjoy   big_smile
