cpufreq no change (athlon x2 tl-60)

i followed wiki guide, try both powernow and acpi-cpufreq

powernow load correctly,
acpi-cpufreq shows this "FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpufreq (/lib/modules/2.6.30-ARCH/kernel/arch/x86/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/acpi-cpufreq.ko): No such device"

gnome applet for controlling loads ok with powernow-k8 and shows correct steps, but when i select any frequency i want it doesnt change.'

???

thanks

I know this error from systems that simply had no EIST/PowerNow support or it was disabled in the BIOS. You could check if there is a setting for it.

You don't need the acpi_cpufreq module to my knowledge (Athlon x2 5050e here).

You will need permissions for that applet though to change the governor etc. Simple as that.

Trust me - setting the governor as root in a terminal will work like a charm.

Re: cpufreq no change (athlon x2 tl-60)

I have a Turion X2 TL-64 and I load (in rc.conf) powernow_k8, cpufreq_ondemand and cpufreq_powersave and if I set the governor with cpufreq-set as root it works perfectly. It's just like B says, set it in a terminal as root and it works like a charm.
