I recently bought a new laptop, and I cannot get sound to work from the speakers. I'm using OSS, and sound is currently only coming from the left headphone jack. I've been trying to get sound working properly for 2 days. Here's some relevant info, I can give more if needed:
ossdetect -v
Detected Intel High Definition Audio (ICH8)
USB support available in the system, adding USB driver
Detected Generic USB audio/MIDI device (BETA)

Can i understand it well, have it already worked earlier ? if yes, what was the big change what do you think ?

It was working earlier under alsa, but I'd like to get it working under OSS

Update: Apparently it doesn't "work" under alsa, it's spotty at best. Sometimes it works, but it skips so much it's basically unplayable. Upon a reboot, sound then comes out of the headphone port (at near-deafening levels), then another reboot and nothing works.
I think I may have to switch the laptop over to ubuntu, apparently everything works 'out of the box' :\ I didn't want it to come to that, but having a multi-media oriented laptop with no sound just isn't going to cut it

Did you try changing the controls ossxmix gives you? I know that there are lots of controls there because you have an hdaudio codec but it doesn't hurt to try.

Yeah, I've tried that. I have another post on the 4front boards, and that's what they suggested
