hello,
I really habe trouble getting this to work Works good with usb 1.0 only 2.0 doesn't work...
The guest is windows xp sp3 and it freezes on startup during the xp-splash with the loading bar. The screen just turns black and that is it.
I also tried to edit the fstab, although the wiki says it doesn't need to be edited with virtualbox 3:
#
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
#
# <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
none /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs auto,busgid=108,busmode=0775,devgid=108,devmode=0666 0 0
#/dev/cdrom /media/cd auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
#/dev/dvd /media/dvd auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
#/dev/fd0 /media/fl auto user,noauto 0 0
UUID=3e19a3fe-d4b8-4512-b558-4202ef573597 swap swap defaults 0 0
UUID=58029062-a365-4ef4-9223-748398b1a2cf / ext4 defaults 0 1
UUID=6e3ceaf7-36cd-497d-bb2d-338bf3b23896 /home ext4 defaults 0 1
tried it with and without the commented line.

Welcome to the forum theguzz!
Did you try it with SP2? Which virtualbox do you use, Open Source Edition or the binary ?
The USB part of virtualbox is closed, so the open source edition won't contain it. But i think you use binary, because 1.0 works.
Did you check the desired box for the usb 2.0 support ?

hi djszapi!
sure, I installed the PUEL-version of virtualbox. And yeah, the 2.0 box is checked, that's why windows won't boot :-(
Is it true, that I don't need a workaround for the fstab? Anyway, i posted my fstab abov and tried both...
I'm really helpless...

Why do you think it's fstab related, if you're said in this momment that, if you uncheck the usb 2.0 support it works?!

hmm, i hope you didn't missunderstood... Maybe it is because my english is not that goog
I have Arch as the host and winXP as the guest.
I'm running the latest 3.0.2 PUEL Version of virtualbox on my arch host and want to have a windows xp vm with usb 2.0 running on my arch host.
I aslo tried a reinstall of my vm and after it didnt work I reinstalled vitualbox.
Virtualbox runs fine, but only without usb 2.0, when I enable vm frezzes at startup.
