Hi there. I recently switched from my command-line install of Ubuntu to Arch Linux. This is my third attempt, and I've had no problems installing (this time).
I've got a rather unusual question, though I can't find the answer anywhere. According to the Wikipedia page on Arch Linux, each time a Arch snapshot is made, it gets a name.
Homer
Vega
Firefly
Dragon
Nova
Widget
Wombat
Voodoo
Duke
Don't Panic
Overlord
While I know different releases aren't as important in Arch, as say Ubuntu (it's one of the reasons I switched), how do they get named/who names them? It is all extremely vital to me understanding my new Arch system.
Thanks in advance!

Now they do not even get a code name... the latest release is 2009-02.
Anyway, from memory it was normally whatever the devs felt like

That was anticlimactic. Suppose it makes sense though.

There should be a thread for name suggestions and unofficial voting before each release, just for the lulz.
I propose both "nurple" and "minging monkey" for the next official release.

I'm surprised none of the releases have been named "tacos!"

Maybe we should stick to naming the releases something which won't make cactus eat them.

I think the next one should be "Most up-to-datest" just so it will show up on http://oswatershed.org/ next to the big #1 :-P

I propose "Burger".

How about "Willy the cow"?
Some applications are WYSIWYG, and some are WYSIWTF.

How about 2009-08?

You have been bribed by Shuffleworks, haven't you!!!
I liked Overlord. I still keep it in my /etc/issue. Just for old times' sake (and because I didn't have to reinstall yet
).
