Hey guys,
Just ran into a problem with an ntfs usb hard drive (WD passport)
when i plug it in i get an error stating
"cannot mount volume", "cannot get volume.fstype.alternative"
I have tried the following solution to no avail:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=69891
Is anyone else experiencing this problem and knows of a solution?
Thanks in advance

Can you mount the drive manually?

I think it has something to do with PolilcyKit, i haven't found a solution at the moment..i'm suffering the same problem if i'm trying to mount an USB stick...if i find a solution i'll post it here.

Hey guys,
I only just re-installed arch like 3 days ago, i dont think it has ever worked since i installed it
I havent been able to find the policykit page of the wiki, can anyone direct me?
A while back i installed Arch (like 6months ago as a VM) and i did not suffer this problem, so i am at a loss as to what caused it or how to fix it

Hey guys,
Sorry to waste your time!. I followed the beginner guide and neglected some important stuff in that HAL guide.
For anyone that has issues with nautilus mounting the ntfs portable hdd
make sure you install ntfs-3g, that could have solved me a lot of headaches >.<

Thanks for the help everyone!
