geektool for arch/linux?

http://projects.tynsoe.org/en/geektool/

Geektool is like conky but conky doesnt seem to be able to do things like geektool, unless I have never really looked into it.
Does anyone know of anything else like it for linux?

*it basically takes the output of a shell script and allows you to put it on your desktop, and have it rerun the command however oftern
it also allows you to change fonts and colors and so on.

Conky can do exactly that. Take at look at "exec", "execi", "execp", "execpi" and the rest of the "exec*" commands.

One thing I do like about the second screenshot there, is the semi-transparent text on the date. I don't think conky can do that.

Can you have more the one instance of it? Suppose I want the date in blue or something in the top left corner.
Can I have another instance of conky on the right side of my screen displaying something else?
