reinstalling and even downgrading to the previous version of -i18n (this was updated today) did not fix this

I can confirm the problem.

Meanwhile I see thunderbird again ![]()
As a workaround I did
pacman -R thunderbird-i18nto remove the -i18n-file, which seems to be the culprit.

I have the same issue, downgrading to the 2.0.0.21 version doesn't work whereas it worked before. Uninstalling i18n package is a temporary solution.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Package thunderbird-i18n 2.0.0.22-2 is out. This solves the problem.
To know or not to know ...
... the questions remain forever.

Hello together,
obviously a corrupted file was written in the profile-directory.
Rename your .thunderbird directory, e.g. to .thunderbird_org,
after you start thunderbird and close it again.
Now you can delete the new created .thunderbird/ and move your old profile back.
mv .thunderbird_org/ .thunderbird/
Is should work now.

Hi,
What's the name of this file?
I don't know exactly. Try to find a hidden file like this: /.thunderbird/.file
Otherwise move your old profile, start your thunderbird, delete the content of the new created thunderbird-directory. Copy the content of your old profile in it. Another solution mentioned in the german forum is to NOT copy back this two files:
XPC.mfasl
XUL.mfas
