delete Desktop bookmark gtk file chooser

under the "places" pane, there's a bookmark to a directory called "Desktop." I'm not sure which application created it, but I can't seem to delete it, and every time gtk file chooser is opened, it creates the folder, which I don't want. Where is the setting stored? Or how can I get rid of it?

Re: delete Desktop bookmark gtk file chooser

It refers to the Desktop folder in your users home directory.

Some desktop environments (KDE/Gnome etc.) require it. It is used for user related .desktop files which manage the desktop appearance. Hence you can't usually remove it.

To know or not to know ...
... the questions remain forever.

Re: delete Desktop bookmark gtk file chooser

I'm using xmonad without a desktop environment, so there shouldn't be a need to store any desktop appearances. Oh well, it's a shame that I can't get rid of it.

gconftool-2 --type boolean --set /apps/nautilus/preferences/desktop_is_home_dir true

That should do the trick, just run that command once and it'll update the gconf database.  Instead of "Desktop" in the Places listing, you'll see $USER and it will point to your home dir.
