Problem setting dbpath after x86_64 upgrade 8/5/09

After synch'ing and upgrading to a new version of pacman this morning subsequent updates  just hang at 'Synchronizing package databases'.  When I run
pacman -debug I get

error:  problem setting dbpath 'ug' (could not find or read directory)

I checked paman.conf and DBpath is commented out (should give default path to /var/lib/pacman).

/var/lib/pacman exists atlhough was modified this morning.  I can force the synchronizing with 'pacman -Syy' but 'pacman -Syu' still hangs.

Any thoughts and/or help appreciated

Re: Problem setting dbpath after x86_64 upgrade 8/5/09

Not sure what was wrong as the problem persisted through several reboots and -Syy's but as of last night pacman -Syu began to function correctly.  I notice that pacman has undergone a couple of recent revisions.

Thanks to those who at least looked at my problem
