Hello Everyone!
i could not find a answer in the forum/wiki/google so am asking...
Recently I installed Arch on my old Acer Aspire 1310XC laptop. After i start X (manual or gdm/slim) i can't shutdown or restart(init 0 works but there are no screen messages). The screen goes black.Sometimes the cooling fan also starts after the shutdown command and then even with init 0 the laptop hangs. If i don't start X every thing is normal.

Hi...
I am new here and my name is Allen...
I think that something gonna wrong with your ram so you must defrag your laptop hard drives or contact your dealer or it's service center...

If the ram is problem, you can check it with memtest86 or plusplus version.
Where is it hanging while shut downing / restarting?

It will be hard to detect if there isn't any log information, in /var/log/messages.log and /var/log/Xorg.log neither
If you see this?

I reinstalled Xorg and the video driver and now it seems to work.
